Non-Explosive Rock Fracturing Services
Whether you’ve hit unexpected rock or blasting is prohibited on your site, our vibration-free removal solutions keep your project moving without the noise or risk.
Mechanical Rock Fracturing
During this process, our team applies immense focused pressure to fracture rocks. We use advanced excavator-mounted hydraulic breakers that deliver targeted energy to the rocks and initiate the fractures. If the rock already has natural weaknesses, we position the chisel to exploit these cracks, further enhancing our efficiency:
- Ideal application: We use the mechanical process for fracturing large areas of rock or thick concrete where speed is a priority.
- The benefits: Mechanical rock fracturing is a highly controllable process when performed by a skilled operator, helping minimize vibrations. It is also fast and efficient for large-scale surfaces, making it a great alternative to rock blasting.
Chemical Rock Splitting
We also offer vibration-free, silent rock fracturing services. Our team uses Dā-mite® Rock Splitting Mortar to create cracks up to 50 feet deep. We start by creating a precise drill pattern of holes and filling them with Dā-mite® mortar. This non-explosive agent will silently expand within the rock, exerting incredible outward pressure that fractures it:
- Ideal application: We designed this service to help our clients achieve non-explosive trench rock removal in areas where vibration is not permitted. We often recommend this service for rock removal near fragile utilities, hospitals or data centers.
- The advantage: Since fractures occur within pre-drilled holes, our chemical rock-splitting contractors can achieve specific fragmentation patterns, allowing them to split rocks without affecting adjacent structures. This method is also among the safest ways to split rocks.
University of Georgia Sanford Stadium Utility Improvements
At the University of Georgia’s iconic Sanford Stadium, our team applied our expertise in a unique environment, beneath one of college football’s most recognizable venues.
To support critical sewer line repairs beneath the stadium, Palmetto Rock utilized a controlled concrete removal process that involved filling pre-drilled holes with an expansive material designed to crack and fracture existing concrete. This method allowed our team to safely and efficiently remove concrete in a confined space where traditional demolition methods were not practical.
Working in a tight, highly sensitive environment required precision planning, specialized equipment, and careful execution. By leveraging our drilling expertise and innovative demolition techniques, we helped create access for essential infrastructure improvements while minimizing disruption to the surrounding facility.
Whether we’re blasting solid rock, performing precision drilling, or supporting underground utility upgrades, Palmetto Rock delivers safe, effective solutions tailored to the unique challenges of every project.
